Festa della Cunfrunta (Cunfrunta holy day)
Folk feasts in Sellia Marina are traditions that pass on from generation to generation, and with their decorations, religious processions, songs, represent a positive gathering moment for the population. During Easter time takes place an holy day called "Cunfrunta" which symbolize Holy Mary asking St John for the permission to seek Jesus on Resurrection's day.
Festa di San Nicola (San Nicola holy day)
The celebration for Saint Nicholas from Bari should be on 6th December, but it takes place on 25th - 26th - 27th May to avoid bad weather. On the first day there is the procession: San Nicola’s statue, the patron saint, is carried by four faithful through the streets of the village, and it is followed by all the people of Sellia and the band.
During the way, women especially used to sing folk song about San Nicola's life. The village is full of colors in those days thanks to all the colorful blankets expose on all balconies. Along all streets there are tables with San Nicola's pictures. Then, the second day, there is a small festival of typical and traditional sweets and people give a small sum of money.
