We have found Uria di Trischene?

We have found Uria di Trischene?

In the mid-July 2006, Cropani received an interesting conference about the archeological finds of the Antiquarium room come from random finding in the area around Crotone Simeri.

In proximity of Uria river, during the construction of a gas pipeline, extraordinary archeological finds were met, that was so amazing that also the director of this investigation says "This area gives important indication: the ancient area is orientated towards south and the most important finds are a circular furnace and amphoras from the beginning of the I century b.C. We have found glasses and precious materials, a sort of pavement of the II century b.C. and a lot of grave, however they were damaged during Snam's works, inly a single grave has been realized on the naked ground with a skeleton inside. The number of the finds shows us that is really a necropolis of the latin period. In the deepness we can see a greek layer. The plaster rooms let us think about a late-roman cistern. We have also discovered two bronze coins that come from the III century b.C.: on the front there is graduate Zeus and on the back an eagle. In that way we can see three different ages. Maybe we have found ruins of the ancient Trischene." During the archeological tour organize by "Gal della valle del Crocchio", we have notice the abundance of ceramic material discard of the roman period, gather by French and Spanish volunteers during the summer camp. Near the furnace there are a lot of discard of terra-cotta. This place has been attended from the greek-period to the late-medieval.
