Sellia Marina is placed in a central zone, so it is easy to reach from neighbouring villages and it is a good starting point to get other historical and touristic places. Some interesting places to visit in Sellia's neighbourhood are the medieval district of Feudo in De Seta village, then "Villa dei Nobili" a beatiful manor in La Petrizia village and the ancient ruins of the Roman aqueduct and the caves in the hills made of sand in Uria.
Only few people knows that in Feudo there is the Lambretta historical museum. The museum's purpose is to keep alive the memory of this glorious scooter and to be a meeting-place for all those who collect and patiently restore these mopeds. It was very hard and long to set it up, but it is also gratifying knowing that it is useful and suggestive for new generations.
If you move in Crotone's way, you can follow a route that includes Cutro, Capo Rizzuto island (where you can visit the Dome, the Medieval District, the Fair and the Market), Capo Colonna (Hera's Temple column, a defense tower of XVI century and the Holy Mary Sanctuary), Le Castella (in which you can see the Aragonese Castle, the Penitent Maids' Conservatory) and last Crotone (where there are the National Archaeological Museum, Saint Chiara's Church, the Castle).
If you chose to travel through the hill to reach Crotone, you can easily visit Cropani (the Dome, Saint Lucia's Church), Belcastro (the D'Aquinos' Castle, the Mercy's Church, Poerio Palace), Mesoraca (Reformation Monastery, the Mother Church, the Retreat's Church, the May Fair), Strongoli (which includes an interesting archaeological area, a Casle and the Clock Tower), Rocca di Neto.
Following Reggio Calabria direction is so easily arrive in Catanzaro Lido, Roccelletta di Borgia (S. Maria church, archaeological area of Skilletion, Scolacium: grave, theatre, forum) and following the direction of Borgia you can reach: Amaroni, Squillace (Normanno castle, cathedral, Pepe palace, ceramic and terra-cotta craft, etc.) Cortale, etc.
Proceeding toward Soverato you can easily arrive in Copanello (seaside resort and the naturalistic museum Libero Gatti), Stallettì (Byzantine church, find monastery of vivarinese, S. Martino church), Chiaravalle Centrale, Badolato (ancient medieval center, fortifications, churchs and paints), Guardavalle (weaving of material in wool and cotton, patron feast, fair, Sirleto palace, S. Agazio church), etc.
From Catanzaro (historic medieval center, Rione Case Arse, Normanno Castel, S. Omobono church, Rosario church, provincial museum, etc.) to Siano (lorry's museum) or also from Sersale, the Sila is so near and so worthwhile to pass through Mancuso village, Racise village, the national parc of Calabria, Buturo, Tirivolo, lakes area, Tiriolo (weaving of characteristic woman shawl, interesting Neolitics and iron-age find, fair, and religious representations), Taverna (paint of maria Preti, etc.)
From Sellia Marina, once you have arrive to Catanzaro is easily continue for Lamezia Terme and so visit it (Nicastro: the castle, the cathedral, archaeological museum; Sambiase: health spa; S. Eufemia Lamezia: find of the benedictine abbey of S. Maria); so you can go on for Curinga and Falerna.
Lastly, the province of Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia, Cosenza and Crotone, where you can find so many wonder, are only one hour away from Sellia's area.
